Commissioners Court approved a quit claim and a writ of abandonment for an undeveloped piece of property in Vidor on Monday. The property at 290 Weatherford is owned by the county which wants to sale it according to County Attorney Doug Manning. The county actually quit claimed the property last year, but that was needed by a different title company for a sale that fell through. Manning said the county has a new sale with a new title company which wants to clear the cloud over the title so they requested a quit claim and a writ of abandonment to cover all the bases in order to close and transfer the property. Commissioner Jody Crump of Precinct 4 where the property is located said the county does not need the roadway on the property for future development. In a very brief meeting the Court approved three line item transfers and certified $11,658 in expenditures and grant revenues used for training personnel in the Sheriff’s Office and all four county constables. Next Monday the Commissioners Court have two public hearings scheduled for the morning and its regular court session in the afternoon.
