Orange City Councilor Pat Pullen wants the city to put the words “In God We Trust” on all city vehicles and the city council will consider the proposal Tuesday.
Pullen, a retired Orange police captain, requested the action be put on the agenda for the meeting. According to the wording in the agenda, the council will discuss the God phrase and will be able to vote on it.
Other business includes a second vote on new sign ordinances. The Orange Planning and Zoning Commission held several meetings last year to work on changes to the ordinances. The city council then held a public hearing on the changes. The ordinance has to have two readings before it becomes official. The first reading was held February 23.
The council will also vote on nine demolitions for unsafe, abandoned or dilapidated houses. Federal community development block grants are used to pay for the demolitions.
Also, the council will vote on buying a $425,000 new pumper truck for the fire department. The council held a public workshop on the new truck February 22.
The council meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the council auditorium next to the Orange Public Library.
