On Thursday September 17 at about 5:00 pm the Orange Police Department began receiving reports of a dark gray Chevrolet truck driving recklessly though town. While officers were searching for the reckless driver, he collided with a car in the curve of Masonic Drive and 37th street. The driver of that car, a pregnant woman, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Officer Myers located and attempted to stop the truck near 20th street and Sunset Drive but the truck fled. Officer Lovelace, coming in the opposite direction on 20th street, also attempted to stop the truck. The driver of the truck intentionally change lanes and attempted to collide head on with the police car. Officer Lovelace avoided the collision by driving into a yard. The chase continued back onto Sunset Drive and onto 16th street where the driver turned into oncoming traffic. The truck collided with another car at 16th and Church. It was there that 19 year old Lucas Moore of Orange was taken into custody. There were no injuries reported in the second collision. Moore was taken to Baptist Hospital Orange as a precaution. A search warrant was obtained for and a sample if his blood was taken. He was transported to the Orange County Jail and is charged with Felony Evading Arrest, two counts of Intoxication Assault, and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer. The case continues to be investigated by the Orange Police Department Detective Division. photo by Lee Harris
