Burglaries and thefts
A guest at the Comfort Inn on Highway 62 South apparently chased away a burglar early Friday morning. Police went to the hotel about noon Friday after damage was discovered to the exterior screen and window. Officer L.L. Claybar reported the guest was awakened between 3:30 and 4 in the morning by scratching and tapping at the window. He went outside and saw a man with a pipe cleaner trying to force open the window. The man ran away.
Other thefts and burglaries reported to Orange police include:
Theft from vehicle, 12:12 a.m. Friday, 300 block of North 10th Street. Cash was taken from the console of a pickup truck.
Burglary, 1:08 a.m. Friday, 800 block Rein Avenue. A 27-year-old TV and audio speakers were stolen sometime between 11 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday.
Theft from vehicle, 3:18 p.m. Friday, apartments at 3333 Ridgemont Drive. A handgun was stolen from a locked car.
Burglary, 1:43 a.m. Saturday, 2900 bock Byley Boulevard. An Apple Macbook and a Sony DVD were stolen.
