Charges Filed for Bail America Burglary
Orange police filed burglary charges Friday against 30-year-old Jeremy Gray in connection with a break-in at bail bond business a block away from the police station. The owner of Bail America at 309 Eighth Street, told police the break-in was between 9:45 and 11:45 p.m. Wednesday. A drill battery worth about $35, two cases of water worth about $10 and a starter’s pistol were stolen. The damage to the door was estimated at $250. Detective Captain Cliff Hargrave said police interviewed a suspect and recovered the stolen items.
Bicyclist with No Lights Carrying Bag with Bolt Cutters
An Orange police officer stopped a man and woman Thursday night for riding bicycles without reflectors or lights and discovered the man was dressed in camouflage and had a respirator mask over his face. Officer Brian Latiolais reported he confiscated a black bag containing two bolt cutters, three rolls of duct tape and assorted clothing. The man had the bag strapped on the front of the bike.
Officer Latiolais made the stop about 10 p.m. a Gardenia and Lilac streets in the Roselawn neighborhood. He listed the 30-year-old man and 28-year-old woman as “homeless.” He described the man as wearing a long-sleeved camouflage shirt and long camouflage pants. No charges were filed.
Burglar Breaks Window on Hemlock Lane
A resident in the 3600 block of Hemlock Lane in the Ridgemont subdivision reported a break-in on Thursday afternoon. Orange police reported a back window at the house had been broken. A bottle of prescription pills along with cash were missing. The resident said the burglary happened between 3:46 and 4:38 p.m. Officer Brian Latiolais reported someone saw a man coming out from the back of the house during that time.
