The Mauriceville Municipal Utility District has issued a boil water notice for the areas around Colony Drive after a main broke on Colony. Residents affected by the notice live on Colony Lane, Colony Drive, Wilkinson, Stallion, Brown, Lemonville, Slaby, Gilbert, Saxon, Finch, Wagner, Colt, Meadowlark, Randall and the FM 1130 area nearby.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires a boil water notice after a water line break. The notice will last until the water is tested to be sure it’s clear of bacteria. The utility district will notify customers when the water is safe for consumption.
Customers under the notice should use bottled water or boil the water to destroy any possible harmful bacteria or microbes. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. People should not drink, make ice or cook with the tap water until it is declared safe.
