Orange County has issued a permit for construction of a $40 million terminal near the Neches River for liquefied gas. Enterprise Terminalling LLC is part of Enterprise Products. The site is off Old Mansfield Ferry Road in the Orangefield school district.
Enterprise Products chose Orange County as a finalist for a $1.25 billion project in late 2013 but announced in June 2014 the terminal would go to the Port of Houston.
Orange County Economic Development Director Bobby Fillyaw said Enterprise liked the local cooperation with the company’s effort. The company agreed to build a $180 million terminal in Orange County without seeking any economic incentives or tax abatements, he said.
Enterprise built a terminal on the Neches River for loading refinery shipments, according to Fillyaw. The addition of a liquefied gas will expand the company’s ability for shipping.
Fillyaw said the project will bring construction jobs but he does not know how many permanent jobs will be created.
