Orange police Wednesday afternoon arrested 17-year-old Deondre Rayon of Orange for aggravated robbery in connection with a hold-up at a convenience store hours in the early morning.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said information from citizens helped lead investigators to get the arrest warrant.
The Country Store off Interstate 10 at Highway 62 was robbed by three men, one armed with a pistol and another with a knife, about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the robbers forced customers to lie on the floor. They stole a woman’s purse with cash and other items. The robbers also took money from the cash register. All three robbers were wearing hoodie shirts. Rayon is currently in the Orange County Correctional Facility and bond has been set at $25,000.
Printpack plastics plant on Chemical Row in Orange filed a complaint with Orange police Tuesday that $170,000 has been stolen with company credit cards.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the theft occurred during a period of years and the investigation will require the company going through years of records.
A report filed by Officer Nicholas Medina said someone used the company credit card to buy gift cards from office supply companies. Captain Enmon said the embezzlement could involve one or more people.
A body found in the Sabine River near Deweyville on Monday has been identified as 37-year-old Jeremiah Spell, who had been missing for nearly a month.
Friends had organized a search for him two weeks ago. The river has been flooded for several weeks and the search centered on the river.
A crook Sunday night took a 54-inch light bar off a truck parked outside a house on DuPont Drive. Orange police were called to the house in the 1000 block of DuPont about 6 Monday morning. The Rough Country brand LED light bar was removed during the night. The bar is valued at $600.
Monday evening, police went to the apartments at 3333 Ridgemont Drive to investigate the burglary of a vehicle. Police report a video camera, car stereo system and a GPS were stolen.
