Sunday night just after 10pm, Orange Firefighters responded to a fire on 8th Street at a vacant home that had already been burned. Following their arrival another fire was reported, this time at the former Heaven Serenity location, a two story structure at 1207 W. Park. Firefighters were slowed in their arrival by a train but they would be in a defensive mode when they arrived because the fire was already out of hand. It took a little over two hours to knock the flames down. It’s the second fire of a two story vacant building in downtown Orange in as many days. Many residents in the area were without power after Entergy was brought in to shut the power off to the burning structure. Sally Burman arrived at the scene and told KOGT her group, The Southeast Texas Dream Center, was in negotiations to buy the former homeless shelter and reopen it.
