Precinct 1 Constable Chris Humble is the latest person to file to run in the March 1 Republican primary races.
His filing completes the four incumbent constables filing for re-election. The others are David Cagle, Precinct 2; Mark Philpott, Precinct 3, and Weldon Peveto, Precinct 4. No challengers have filed.
Orange County Republican Chair Sheila Faske reports that so far, only two positions have contested races.
Incumbent Sheriff Keith Merritt is being challenged by David Smith.
County Commissioner Precinct 1 David Dubose is retiring. So far, Shirley Zimmerman and Johnny Trahan have filed for the spot.
Precinct 3 Commissioner John Banken has filed for re-election and so far has not drawn an opponent.
In the past four years, all of Orange County candidates have become Republican after decades of the Democrats having all the candidates.
County Attorney John Kimbrough, who ran as a Democrat since being elected in 1992, switched this year to a Republican, as did Sheriff Merritt.
