Thursday at approximately 5:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a three vehicle crash on SH 62 in Orange County. The crash occurred in front of the Pilot fuel station.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling northbound on SH 62. A 2008 Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on SH 62 followed by a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver of the Jeep pulled into the center turn lane to make a left turn into the Pilot fuel station parking lot. The driver of the Jeep failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of the Ford. The Ford Mustang collided with the Jeep. The momentum of the crash caused the Ford to spin and it was then struck by the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Jeep, 73-year-old Connie Rogers of Bridge City, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford, 37-year-old Stephanie Garza of Vidor, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. The two passengers, ages 16 and 10 years of age, were also transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Manuel Garcia, 25, of Orange, was not injured in the crash.
All northbound and southbound lanes of SH 62 were closed for approximately an hour, but have since reopened.
