The line at the Orange Public Library was to the front door Monday.
Big turnout in Orange County on Day One of Early Voting for the Presidential Election.
900 voters turned out in Orange while 606 voted in Bridge City. Vidor had 714 show up and vote while Mauriceville tallied 307 and 898 people voted by mail. 35 military and out of country ballots brought the total to 3425. An incredible number considering there are no local races.
The polling sites will be at the Orange Public Library, 220 north Fifth Street in downtown; the Bridge City Public Works Building, 220 Nitsche; Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department on Highway 62 North, and the Raymond Gould Community Center, 385 Claiborne in Vidor.
The hours for all the polls the first week, Monday through Saturday, will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The same hours will be in effect Monday October 31 through Friday November 4th.
Extended hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the two Tuesdays, October 25th and November 1st.
Orange County has no contested local races, only Republicans running unopposed. Registered county voters may cast a ballot at any of the early voting sites. On Election Day, voters must go to their assigned voting boxes.
