Scattered thunderstorms brought a bit of rain and relief to the heat in Orange County Thursday afternoon, but not every neighborhood got rain. The National Weather Service station at the Orange County Airport recorded a temperature of 100 degrees at 2:35 p.m. Thursday. Wednesday’s recorded high at the airport was 98. The showers dropped the temperatures down to 84 degrees at the airport, but the heat returned after the rain went by. A wind gust during a thunderstorm was recorded at 28 mph. A gust may have blow over an oak tree that fell on the east side of Northway Park near Drake Memorial Presbyterian Church. The forecast for Friday calls for a high of 97 degrees with the heat index of 103 degrees.
