Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said the fatal shooting Tuesday evening is being investigated as a family dispute. The victim was 46-year-old Gregory Paul Goldsmith. Police were called at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday to a house in the 100 block of Carla Street off FM 105 South. Medics from Acadian Ambulance declared Goldsmith dead at the scene.
Justice of the Peace Joy Dubose-Simonton came and ordered an autopsy.
Chief Carroll said the shooter has been cooperating with police and was released after giving a statement. He said the investigation is continuing and police are waiting for autopsy and toxicology reports.
