An Orange police officer stopped a stolen pickup truck speeding down Simmons Drive Wednesday. The driver used an identification card from the Jefferson County Jail to identify himself to the officer.
Lieutenant Robert Estrello reported he stopped the truck about 11 a.m. on Simmons at Green Avenue. He said he had seen the Dodge Ram going southbound speeding and passing other vehicles.
The truck showed to be stolen from Beaumont. He said the man driving identified himself as Hunter Gage Dryden of Beaumont using a Jefferson County Jail identification.
The officer reported the driver said the truck belonged to his uncle, but a computer check showed it had been reported as stolen. Estrello said he found a small amount of marijuana in the truck.
Dryden was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle along with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
