The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one vehicle crash on the interstate Saturday in Orange County that killed a man from Spring, Texas. Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the DPS reported the crash occurred at about 5:00 PM Saturday on Interstate 10 near mile marker 859.
The preliminary investigation by troopers at the scene indicate a Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling westbound on the interstate when for unknown reasons the vehicle struck the inside concrete wall and then traveled back across the westbound lanes striking the outside concrete wall. Upon impact the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Daniel Martinez, age 50, was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. Martinez was pronounced dead by an attending physician about 45 minutes later. All westbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours on Saturday because of the wreck.
