The Carriage House of The W.H. Stark House
Discover the many ways the W.H. Stark family was active and involved in the community by viewing the exhibit display, Living Legacy, located on the second floor of the Carriage House. Included are many touching stories of how the W.H. Starks helped families, individuals and organizations. You will be introduced to never before exhibited objects from the Collection of The W.H. Wicked Plants: The Exhibit

This loaned, traveling exhibition invites you to step into a macabre world where plants hold all the power. Poisonous, carnivorous, or just plain nasty, the diabolical botanicals represented throughout this exhibit have left their mark on history and claimed many an unfortunate victim. Poisonous Pages: Rare Botanical Books from the Stark Museum of Art

This exhibition highlights historic images of plants that harm. It features eleven rare botanical books from the sixteenth through the nineteenth centuries. Bright Beasts: Animals in Illuminated Manuscripts

This exhibit explores the roles of beasts, both natural and imaginary, in illuminated manuscripts. Four medieval Books of Hours from the Collection of Stark Museum of Art are open to images that portray animals as actors in the narrative, as symbols, or as decoration. Gallery Scavenger Hunt: Travel Through Time

Get yourself a time machine! We’re about to take a trip to the past. Put yourself in the shoes of a cattle herder, join a wagon train, and journey to old Taos. December 8 is “Pretend to be a time traveler Day.” Hop into history with the help of out artwork and your imagination! After you’ve completed the hunt, you can claim a prize. On the first Tuesday each month, try out a new scavenger hunt. Prizes change monthly too, so be sure to stop by and discover new connections with art! For all ages. Included with general admission. Members’ Only Preview – To Have and To Hold

The W.H. Stark House
Exclusive tour for members of the new exhibition celebrating the classic love story of Miriam Lutcher and W.H. Stark. The Tower Room of The W.H. Stark House is used as the exhibit space, with an interactive area in the turret. This exhibit explores wedding and anniversaries in the late 1800s and early 1900s using the experiences of the W.H. Stark family. From their December 1881 wedding to their 1931 golden anniversary party, the exhibition features rarely displayed objects from the Collection of the Stark House and historic photographs and documents. Highlighted in the exhibition center is Miriam Lutcher Stark’s lace wedding dress, offering you a 360-degree view of this spectacular object. Linoleum Block Workshop
Hours: 1 – 5pm, Stark Museum of Art
Materials fee: Non-members – $35; Members – $25
This four-hour adult workshop will begin with a guided tour of the special, traveling exhibition Wicked Plants and the companion exhibit Poisonous Pages before the making of linoleum block prints. Imagery from the exhibitions will serve as a source of inspiration. The workshop will be an introduction to the tools, materials and basic processes of making a single color relief print. Other aspects of printmaking will also be discussed during the class, such as processes for printing in color, registration methods, and vocabulary for talking about prints. At the end of the workshop, take your portfolio of prints and a reference hand-out on processes and suppliers.
