Orange County is the recipient of the “Rebuild Texas Initiative” and the “National Disaster Displacement” grant which provides federal and state funds through Texas Workforce Solutions to provide jobs for people displaced by Hurricane Harvey.

Workforce Solutions obtained grants benefitting workers displaced by Harvey for jobs with municipalities and qualifying non-profit entities of Orange County to assist with Hurricane cleanup.

“All employees hired through the Workforce as temporary employees of the ‘Rebuild Texas Initiative’ and the ‘National Disaster Displacement Grant’ are helping make our city look better after Hurricane Harvey and are earning ‘going wages’ in doing so which goes back into the local economy” according to a Workforce representative.

Participating municipalities and non profits include:

                        City of Vidor

                        City of West Orange

                        Orange Housing Authority

                        Orange County

                        Vidor ISD

                        LCMISD

                        Salvation Army

                        Orangefield ISD

                        City of Pinehurst

City of Pinehurst temporary employees have been photographed working diligently in the collection of roadside trash and roadside spot clean-up  recently on MacArthur Drive.
