The Texas AgriLife Extension Office is sponsoring a youth workshop this week at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center. Extension Agent Fallon Foster described the Summer Youth Cooking Camp as offering a wonderful opportunity for children to learn hands on how to prepare and cook meals. Foster added those attending will be taught kitchen skills, menu development, nutrition, and just cooking. Orange County Health Inspector James Scales was also participating with the Youth Cooking Camp to help the kids learn proper sanitation when cooking. Foster said 60 children are divided into groups while attending the Youth Cooking Camp with 17 adult volunteers serving as teachers and leaders as each group took turns learning different aspects of food preparation.
