National Tour of Acclaimed “Into the Woods” to Play Lutcher Theater
(ORANGE,TX) Already a Tony Award® winner, and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominees for the feature film with Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s INTO THE WOODS has taken New York by storm in a celebrated new production that launched a national tour in the 2016/17 Season and is headed for the Lutcher Theater for two performances, February 21-22, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets ranging from $45-$65 are on sale now at lutcher.org. or by calling the Lutcher Theater Box Office at 409.886.5535.
The tour brings together the Dodgers, current producers of Jersey Boys and Matilda, and the original Tony Award-winning producers of INTO THE WOODS with Bernadette Peters, and of its revival with Vanessa Williams, with NETworks Presentations, the wizards of the road who recently brought you South Pacific, Phantom and War Horse, to present the acclaimed Fiasco Theater production of INTO THE WOODS that became New York’s surprise hit of this season. Unanimously acclaimed, extended twice at the Roundabout, the award-winning musical classic was mounted with boundless imagination: A witty and wild theatrical re-invention like you’ve never seen it before.
Including dazzling songs like “Children Will Listen” and “No One Is Alone,” this thrillingly clever new version made Ben Brantley of The New York Times fall “head over heels. Mind the wolf, heed the witch and honor the giant in the sky at this extraordinary musical about the power of wishes and what really happens after they come true.”
