Combined Area Church Choirs will present a Gaither Gospel Musical at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church, 104 Broad St., West Orange, TX on Saturday, August 26 @6pm and Sunday, August 27 @5pm. A nursery will be provided for ages 3 & under. There will be a cake and punch fellowship following Sundays performance.

Benefit for Vincent Cantone. He and his wife are both battling cancer. Event is at Brick and Barley in Orange (the old Polo club) from 12pm-5pm Saturday, August 26th. We will have plate lunches by Smokin’ Big Daddy’s BBQ for sale, an auction and live music by Three Legged Dog! Please help us make this a successful event, come join us for a great time! The First Baptist Church of Orangefield will celebrate its 95th anniversary on Sun., Aug. 20, with a special dinner following the religious service in the Fellowship Life Center.  The church is located at 9788 FM 105 in Orangefield, Texas.  All current and former members and their families are invited to this special event with a special guest speaker and music performers.  All attending are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert.  Meat, rolls, and beverages will be provided by the church.  Only one service will take place at the church on Aug. 20, the 10:30 a.m. service, as well as 9:15 a.m. Sunday School. The evening service is cancelled for Aug. 20, according to Pastor Cody Hogden. First Baptist of Orangefield began as a mission of Winfree Baptist Church in 1922. It has functioned continuously as a Baptist church since its origination.  The 95th Anniversary Chair is Betty Norwood, and the Advertising/Media Chair is Anita Ryan. 

The meeting of the board and volunteers of The Friends of the Orange Depot will be held for the first time in the Depot Museum on Thursday, August 17, at 5:00PM for reception and 5:30PM for the meeting.  There will be an update on the progress of the museum exhibits, some special events that will be held this year, and depot rentals.  Anyone who is interested in volunteering is welcome to come and enjoy the magical surroundings in the depot.  For info on renting the depot or for special tours, call Rose at (409) 886-1970.

Vidor Lions Club – “Fields of Freedom” – Veterans Park – We are taking applications through September 15, 2017 for veteran names to be engraved on the upright military granite stones at the Veteran’s Park “Fields of Freedom”; cost is $100 per name.   Brick pavers from $75 – $100 can be personalized for military service recognition or for individuals, families, clubs or businesses.  Granite pavers (8″X12″) costing $300 can be etched with pictures, logos, and history about your friend, family member, organization or business.  Forms for these projects are available at the Vidor Library, Goin Postal, and Memorial Funeral Home or by contacting Joanne Ledger at (409) 828-1322.  Fields of Freedom Veteran’s Park is maintained by volunteers and fundraisers by the Vidor Lions Club.  Your help with this project is appreciate.

Join the ladies at First Methodist Church of Orange for Line Dancing on Monday, August 14th and August 21st   from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center on the corner 5th street and Elm.  A $5.00 contribution is requested.  Join us for fun and exercise!

Texas Ag Extension – Join us every Wednesday during the month of August at 9 am at the Raymond Gould Community Center Gazebo located at 385 Claiborne St. Vidor. We will have a healthy eating session followed by a 30- minute walk and talk session. Bring your family, strollers, friends and relatives for a fresh start to a healthier you. The 18th annual Pinehurst senior citizens labor day picnic will be September 04th, 2017 at the Family Worship center 2300 41st street in Pinehurst. The event will start promptly at 10 a.m. with the posting of the flags ceremony by the local color guard.  Shaun Branham will provide the music and the Orange Blossoms line dancers will perform.
