Pinehurst City Administrator Robbie Hood found a trespasser Tuesday afternoon at the city’s water and sewer plant. An alligator was in the retention pond at the plant, which is along Adams Bayou.
Police Chief Fred Hanauer said the gator had lost his fear of humans and did not flee. Pinehurst officials called the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which referred them to Gary Saurage with Gator Country.
The Gator Country crew caught the alligator, which appeared to be about six feet long, and took it to an approved facility.
Chief Hanauer said Pinehurst employees at the plant will be cautious because the gator that was caught appears to be bigger than the one originally spotted. He advises anyone with concerns about an alligator in a populated area to contact the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
