On November 11, 2017, at approximately 1:15a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash occurred approximately one (1) mile West of Orange.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2011 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 followed by a 2016 Dodge pickup truck, a Honda passenger vehicle and another Dodge pickup truck. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Honda Civic struck the outside concrete wall and came to rest in the middle of the roadway. The Honda Civic was then struck by the other three vehicles.
The driver of the Honda Civic, 25-year-old Travion Ray Leaven of Beaumont, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital in critical condition. Leaven did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at approximately 1:45p.m. on November 11, 2017.
The passenger of the Honda Civic, Jai Daw, 22, of Beaumont, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital in serious condition. At this time, there are no updates on her medical condition.
There were no other injuries reported.
