Sabine
River Authority – Louisiana and Texas Instream
Flow Program to Host Event
MANY, Louisiana
– Competition for water is increasing daily and this is especially
true in the Sabine River basin.
As part of state-wide studies to help ensure that enough water flows
in rivers for a healthy environment,
Texas
state agencies and the public will collaborate on scientific studies
designed to underpin water policy for the State of
Texas.
The public is invited to a meeting in Many, LA on July 29 to provide
local input about the river and the studies to be conducted. The
meeting will be held from
6 p.m.
to
7:30 p.m. on July 29 at the Sabine Council of Aging Building
(formerly the Toledo Lions Building) 29275 Highway 191 North.
The studies will be conducted by the Texas Instream Flow Program,
which is a joint initiative of the Texas Water Development Board,
the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the
Texas
Parks and Wildlife Department. Throughout the studies, the Texas
Instream Flow Program will be seeking collaboration with members of
the public and other state and federal agencies.
The Texas Instream Flow Program and the Sabine River
Authority-Louisiana are hosting the meeting.
The meeting is free and open to the public and will
include question-and-answer sessions with Texas Instream Flow
Program representatives. This meeting is being held in Many, LA to
accommodate members of the public from both
Texas and Louisiana who live in the upper portion of the study area.
