BCHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian

 

Valedictorian D’Lisa Gail Howard is the daughter of Clyde and Daina Howard.  She is the granddaughter of Nina Howard, Polly and Wayne Wright, and Clyde and Linda Howard.  She has two brothers, Cade and Wade Howard.  D’Lisa ranks tops in her class of  160 with a GPA of 4.9143 based on a weighted 4.0 scale.  She is an Academic Honor Roll student, treasurer of the Spanish Club, and a member of the National Honor Society and Art Club.  She was chosen as Student of the Month for the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce and Student of the Week for KOGT during October.

            D’Lisa represents Bridge City High School on the Youth Advisory Board of RADAAC.  She participated in U.I.L. Spelling and won second place in Algebra at Lamar’s Math Fest.  D’Lisa is also involved in peer tutoring and Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church.

            D’Lisa plans to attend one of the Lamar campuses but is still contemplating the degree to pursue.

 

            Co-Salutatorian Alyson Kae Smith is the daughter of James and Melissa Smith, and the granddaughter of Earl and Judy Scrivner and Estelle and the late C.H. Smith.  Alyson is graduating with a 4.8250 GPA on a weighted 4.0 scale.  Alyson is a four year member of the National Award Winning Strutters Drill Team, serving as Chaplain her junior year and Lieutenant her senior year.  She was also named 2010 Strutter of the Year.  Alyson is secretary and two year member of the Spanish Club, President and four year member of En Croix (Fellowship of Christian Dancers), two year member of Student Council, four year member of Cardinals for Christ, and one year member of the Press Club. 

            Alyson was selected to receive the President’s Education Award, Rotary Club Award for Scholastic Excellence, and Bridge City Chamber of Commerce October 2009 Student of the Month.

            Alyson is an active member of Winfree Baptist Church Youth Ministry, where she has participated in Student Life Summer Mission Trips, 30 Hour Famine, World Changers Summer Mission Trips, as well as other volunteer work.

            Alyson plans to attend McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and is pursuing a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Nursing in anticipation of becoming a Pediatric Physical Therapist.

 

 

            Co-Salutatorian Amy Katherine Sattler is the daughter of Brian and Kay Sattler.  She has a younger brother, Gregory, and is the granddaughter of Ron and Kathy Emmert of Bridge City, and Carol and the late Lt. Col. Harold Sattler of Doss.  Amy has a 4.8250 GPA on a weighted 4.0 scale.  Amy is an Academic Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.  She was chosen as Student of the Month in May for the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce.  Amy is also a member of the Spanish Club, Art Club, and is vice-president of Cardinals For Christ.  Amy participated in U.I.L. events including Ready Writing and Solo and Ensemble.  She made the TMEA All-Region Band for three years and the ATSSB All-Region Band this year.  She participated in the BCHS band and was the secretary/treasurer for two years, Color Guard for three years, and lieutenant for past two years. 

            Outside of school, Amy is an active member of the youth group at Orange First Church of the Nazarene, participating in several mission trips and service projects.  She plays keyboard with the youth praise team and flute with the church praise band.

            Amy plans to attend Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma this fall to major in Biology/Chemistry as part of the pre-veterinarian program and to minor in equine business.
