First year Deweyville coach Chris Babin has led the Pirates to the top of District 10-2A Div.II with a 66-28 win over Groveton.  It's their first district title since 1983!  The Pirate offense was awesome, averaging 12.5 yards per play and finished with a total of 498 yds.  Junior Ryan Collins led the way with 219 yards and five TD's on 17 carries.  Junior QB Cody Dupuy scored four TD's including a kick off return and also completed 3-4 passes for 97 yds.  Why such early success?  "The kids are invested," Babin said.  "I knew they were hard workers, but they're also smart kids who listen to the coaches and want to get better each week."  The Pirates get a first round bye.
